#1 Make the Skin Taut before Applying Eyeshadow

The best part about this tip is that you don’t need anything fancy! Just your favorite Seint eyeshadow, eyeshadow brush, and your finger. Simply pull your eyelid upward so that the skin becomes taut before and while you apply your eyeshadow. It’s that easy.

#2 Use Matte Shades Intentionally 

Shimmery eyeshadows are BEAUTIFUL, but as your skin ages, the shimmery eye makeup can draw attention to the wrinkles, making your eyelids appear crepey.  Makeup application is all about creating an illusion. And we use shimmery, bright colors to pull focus and darker colors to mimic shadows. 

As we age, we want to pull focus away from our wrinkles. And unfortunately, shimmery eyeshadows can make wrinkles stand out, instead of blend in, which is the exact opposite of what we want. So for best results, try to use matte shades in the areas that are more wrinkled (instead of shimmers). 

#3 Create an Illusion of Dimension 

Make your eyes truly pop by making your eyelids look even bigger. Start by using a medium-toned eyeshadow shade in the crease (or above the crease if you have hooded eyes) to help create the illusion of dimension.

#4 Apply your eyeshadow with your Eyes Open 

We all know the drill, close your eyes, swipe the eyeshadow, and voila, you’ve got a great look! However, this isn’t always the best technique, especially if you have mature skin (or even hooded eyes). You need to be able to see EXACTLY where you’re putting your eyeshadow, so you can place it where people can actually see it. 

When you apply eyeshadow with your eyes closed, you often don’t end up placing the eyeshadow in places that will be visible once you open your eyes back up. And this is exactly what you want to avoid. So instead, keep your eyes open as you apply your eyeshadow. By keeping your eyes open, you can put your eyeshadow in the places where it will actually be visible, and add emphasis to one of your best features!

#5 Create a Cream-Based Eyeshadow 

We all know how great cream makeup is for people with mature skin.  Mature skin tends to be dry and dull, and cream makeup is incredibly hydrating and creates a natural and luminous glow. So if you have mature skin, and you’re not already using cream makeup, you absolutely should be! Seint’s IIID Foundation is amazing for all skin types, but especially for mature skin. Since we know cream makeup is so hydrating, a cream eyeshadow works incredibly well for women with mature skin. #6 Focus on Eyeliner 

Eyeliner is a great way to add a more youthful look to your face.  The key here is to use softer and more subtle lines.  Sometimes as we age, we label certain things as being “only for young people”. Eyeliner should not be one of those things! No matter your age, you can rock a good eyeliner and make your eyes really pop! 

To achieve the perfect eyeliner application, use the Etch Brush to apply your favorite medium/dark shade of eyeshadow along your lash line. By using an eyeshadow and a brush (instead of a pencil), you’ll be able to create softer lines for a more flattering finished look on mature skin. 

Bonus Tips for Applying Eyeshadow to Mature Eyes

One of the best ways to enhance your eyes is to eliminate any distractions around them. And a common problem for mature skin is darkness under the eyes. So if you struggle with dark circles under your eyes, you’re not alone. Watch this video here to learn how to fix them!

There are 4 eye shapes that are the most common: Almond, Round, Monolid, and Hooded Eyes. Let’s determine which one best describes the shape of your eyes!

How to Determine Your Eye Shape 

First, grab a mirror to look at your eyes straight on, and then relax your face. As you look in the mirror, take particular note of your eyelids’ crease. If you notice that you have no visible crease, then you most likely have monolid eyes. If you have a crease, but almost all of your eyelid is covered by your brow bone, then you most likely have hooded eyes. 

To determine if you have almond or round eyes, you need to see if you have any white showing above or below the iris of your eye. If you have white showing above or below your iris, then you have a round eye shape. If you don’t, then you most likely have almond-shaped eyes. And with almond-shaped eyes, you can have additional nuances, including having almond-shaped eyes that are hooded or monolid, or even upturned or downturned (upturned eyes have a natural lift on the outer corner, whereas downturned eyes drop slightly at the outer corner). 

Eyes are the windows to the soul, and just like souls, every shape is unique. But in general, here are the rules for each eye shape to enhance your natural beauty.

Best Eye Makeup for Almond Eyes: 

If you have an almond eye shape, it’s best to keep it simple. Experts recommend…

• Using single-color eyeshadow looks
• Light Eyeliner application works best 
• Apply eyeshadow on your lower eyelash line 
• Add emphasis to your eyelashes

• Fake a crease using eyeshadow that’s slightly darker than your skin tone (think contouring)
• You can go bold and bright or do a more subtle smokey look 
• Apply an exaggerated, long cat eye line with eyeliner 

Best Eye Makeup for Hooded Eyes: 

Hooded eyes are really common, and learning how to put eyeshadow on can be kind of tricky.  I have a slightly hooded eye, so I know how hard it can be! When it comes to hooded eyes, most people want to learn how to make their eyes look bigger, here are a few tips: 

• Contour on your eyebrow bone (instead of contouring in your crease) 
• Use a light, bright color (like this one here) on your eyelid 
• Use an illuminator right on the eyebrow bone, cheekbone, and inner eye corner
• Avoid thick eyeliner, instead do a tight line or keep your eyeliner super thin

#1 Develop a Good Skincare Routine 

Developing a good skincare routine can be difficult. There are so many options and opinions, that it can get overwhelming to figure out what is best. This is why I like Seint’s skincare line. Seint’s skincare line keeps it simple with three easy steps: Cleanser, Toner, and Creme.  Each step works together to clean, replenish, and hydrate your skin.

Seint’s skincare routine is a daily routine that’s easy to execute! Here’s how to start:

#4 Hydrate, Moisturize, and Hydrate some more! 

Whenever I post about hydrating your skin, I always like to remind people of the easiest and cheapest thing they can do: drink water. Yep, that’s right. Your body needs water to be supple and smooth, so make sure you’re replenishing it often. 

Unfortunately, when it’s cold outside, we don’t feel the urge to drink as much water as we do in the summer. But our body still needs a lot of hydration. So, here’s your daily reminder to drink plenty of water and keep your body hydrated this winter! 

And finally, make sure you use some sort of exfoliator 1-2 times a week. Every day you should be using Plump and Creme, but you can make your skin even more supple and fresh by using Seint’s Masque at least once a week. 

It’s easy to use! All you have to do is add it once a week to your nightly skincare routine. Makeup Colors for the True Winter Palette 

If you are a true winter in your color analysis, it’s important to pick colors that enhance your natural cool undertones. This means you need to make sure you avoid warm tones and earthy colors that go against the natural coolness of your coloring. People who have a true winter skin type can wear colors that are sharp, vivid, and high-contrast. All the colors in their palette should have blue undertones instead of yellow. 

And when it comes to makeup for a true winter, it’s important to remember that a high-contrast look will look the most natural on you! 

Am I a True Winter? 

While I’m not trained in color analysis for seasons, I can give you some tips for figuring out if you’re a true winter. Here are 3 things to check for:

• High contrast in colors between eyes, skin, and hair
• Cool undertones in the skin (think icy-winter)
• Lips have a natural cool pink or cool red hue 

Some famous true winter examples are Katy Perry, Zoey Deschanel, Anne Hathaway, Lauren Graham, and Janelle Monae. 

While it would require in-person testing to 100% verify that these people are true winters, they are good examples of having high contrast between their eyes, hair, and skin colors. 

How to Build a True Winter Makeup Palette 

Once you’ve determined that you’re a true winter, it is time to start building the perfect true winter makeup palette! Should I wear a Bronzer as a True Winter? 

Usually, I LOVE bronzer, and for most people, it gives them the sunkissed glow of their dreams. With true winter complexions though, it might be best to avoid it.  As a general rule, you don’t want to add any warmth to your face. You want to keep that icy, high-contrast look of winter. 

However, if you love bronzer, then please remember these are just guidelines. You can rock whatever look you love. And Seint has several beautiful cream bronzers that will go great with any makeup!

#4 Create a Diffused Eyeshadow Look 

Unlike with bold glamor, your eyeshadow look should be subtle and well-blended. Similar to the lip and blush colors, you should stick to neutrals, browns, and pinks.  If you’re wondering what colors would look best with your eye color, you can use the following posts:
